On March 1, we welcomed George Mandrik, Architect, to our team!
George, who was born in Ukraine, moved to Portland, OR, and made his way to Springfield, MO when he was in high school. He graduated from Drury University in 2013 with a Master of Architecture and minors in fine arts and global studies. Prior to joining BRP, his experience included designing banks, residential, healthcare and educational facilities in southwest Missouri. George is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and is a LEED Green Associate.
Let’s get to know him even more:
Why did you want to be an architect? Architecture is the best combination of problem-solving and art. It gives me the ability to create new things.
What’s something unique about you? I was born in Ukraine and I speak three languages fluently.
You’re about to be a new parent. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? Spend quality time with your baby and be open with your child. There are parents out there that spend little time with their kids and are somewhat reserved about sharing things about themselves. The time that is spent, is often not quality either.
Favorite piece of architecture in the world? My favorite piece of architecture is La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain.
What did you want to be when you grew up? As a kid, I wanted to be a President, obviously not knowing what all that involved.
Favorite food of all time? Ukrainian Borsch
What’s the coolest place you’ve ever been? The coolest place I’ve ever been is Santorini, Greece
Favorite thing about practicing architecture? I get to create places which change and define how people interact with the world.
