On December 2nd, we welcomed Emma Geurin, Architectural Student Intern, to our team.

Emma, from Bolivar, MO, is a third-year student at Drury University's Hammons School of Architecture, pursuing her Master of Architecture degree. In Spring 2025, she’ll embark on a 10-week study abroad program in Paris, where she’ll expand her architectural perspective and creativity. Outside of her studies, Emma enjoys playing tennis, reading, and coffee. We’re thrilled to have her join us and look forward to seeing her talents shine at BRP!

Let's get to know Emma better...

Who or what inspired you to pursue architecture?

"My inspiration to pursue architecture comes from my love of design and creativity. Growing up, I spent lots of time creating my own world in Minecraft, building with legos, or drawing up many renditions of my dream home. As I got older I found I enjoyed math and the satisfaction of solving a difficult problem. Architecture became the perfect blend of these interests, allowing me to merge creative expression with analytical thinking. I’m very thankful for this career path that can serve both of my interests."

Best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“The best piece of advice I’ve received is from my Dad, “There is no peace or contentment or goodness apart from Jesus. Nothing is more important. Keep your eyes on him always. Pray for wisdom always.””

If you could gain a new skill in 10 minutes, what would it be?

"If I could gain a new skill in 10 minutes, I would want to become fluent in multiple languages."

Which movie have you seen recently or what TV show are you watching currently?

"I just saw Wicked in theaters, and I’m currently watching Suits."

What’s your favorite class that you’ve taken at Drury and why?

"My favorite class was Drawing during freshman year. Many class periods we were sent to find a spot on campus to draw, which encouraged me to slow down and notice the small details in my surroundings. It became a wonderful stress reliever that I looked forward to every day."

List three items on your bucket list.

"Go skydiving, adopt a dog, and see the northern lights."

If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go?

"I would travel to Norway, stay in a cabin by the fjords, and spend my time enjoying the scenery, sipping coffee, and reading a good book."

What is your dream project?

"My dream project would be to design a theme park because of their immersive environment. I’m fascinated by how architecture can transport people to another world and designing a theme park opens a unique opportunity to do so."

What are you most excited about in taking this position?

"I’m most excited about gaining hands-on experience and learning directly from skilled architects. I look forward to the opportunity for both architectural and personal growth through this experience."

What building do you hope to see in person one day?

"I hope to see the Sagrada Familia by Antonio Gaudí."
