3DW Downtown Springfield Airport Hangar
Springfield, MO
The Downtown Airport (3DW) in Springfield Missouri has a long storied history in aviation. The airport originally opened in the late 1920s and was privately purchased in 1939. It remains a private owner, public use, airport today. The original hangar stood the test of time but as aircrafts increased in size over the years, the original hangar could no longer house modern-day aircraft. Showing signs of structural decay, the old hangar was replaced with a modern, 9,000 sq. ft. structure that has a 70’ wide x 18’ tall clear opening door. This new hangar can hold several larger aircraft as well as support other necessary equipment.
