    Design a 21st century school addition intended to foster creativity and curiosity in an informal, student-oriented environment with flexible spaces for a range of curricula and pedagogy. All classroom elements (desks, lab stations, and computers) are mobile for greater flexibility and adaptability.

    Expand an existing K-5, five sections per grade, school to meet their needs.

    Our Focus:

    Consolidate a gym, five kindergarten classrooms and administrative offices in one addition to minimize disruption to existing classes. Provide a new entrance to support lockdown situations. Designate minor renovation spaces to be completed in the summer.

    Combine two elementary school attendance areas into a renovated and enlarged community-oriented school facility.

    Our Focus:

    Work with the two existing school communities to develop a facility vision for the "new" school. Emphasize better security and monitoring, visually blend the interior and exterior of the addition with the existing building, expand instructional spaces to serve the increased population, and improve movement around the site for parking, drop off and pick up.

    Their Vision:

    Provide much-needed additional classroom and faculty office space in a new building adjacent to a bluff overlooking the Lake Taneycomo Valley some 175 feet below.

    Our Focus:

    Orient classrooms toward the campus and a new plaza, and faculty offices toward the view of valley. Provide an atrium that connects the plaza to the view with an open air balcony cantilevered above the cliff. Suspended above the cliff is an elliptical conference room with a high performance glass wall facing the view.

    Revitalize this inner city school with new construction which involved demolition of the original school and three of its five additions.

    Our Focus:

    Establish two axes of movement adjacent to the two remaining components, and organize new spaces along these corridors. The addition was functional and visually conceived as a collection of smaller buildings, or communities.

    Update the character and image of a 1960s university dining hall located within a residence life facility.

    Provide a more relevant and inviting common area and dining hall environment for students with new food stations, lighting, finishes, furniture and signage.

    Modernize and expand an existing student union.

    Our Focus:

    Transform the character, image and function of the building. Redirect campus pedestrian movement patterns through and alongside the union, while enhancing the edges of those routes. Construct glass-walled additions housing lounges on two ends of the building, and a third addition housing a multipurpose theater.
