Urban Focused Service Hotels: Finding Innovations within the Standards

It’s an exciting time for the hospitality industry. As the industry recovers, focused service hotels located in urban centers have emerged as a strong lodging product.

The focused service hotel sector is a leader among new hotel property types. Many hotel brands have taken from their full service flags the services and amenities most desired by travelers, and transitioned these into their focused service brands. Focused service hotels appeal to guests because they offer almost everything they need at a good price, bridging the gap between luxury and economy options.

Traditionally, focused service properties were seen in suburbs; however, more and more developers are locating them downtown as well. One reason for this could be Millennials, who want more local culture, but place importance on affordability. For investors, well-run focused service properties are low-risk urban investments with good financial performance.

Recently, BR&P has designed several urban focused service hotel projects including:

Holiday Inn Express & Suites - Louisville, KY

Hilton Garden Inn - Manhattan, KS

BR&P’s approach in all these has been to comply with brand standards, while reinterpreting them for an urban consumer and their particular locale. We’re committed to continually learning new design and construction approaches to create products that are economically feasible to build, while at the same time, bringing innovation to properties for a competitive advantage in their market.

That’s one of the reasons BR&P is listed as one of Hotel Management’s Top 60 Hospitality Design Firms. If you need help with a project, one with or without beds, call us at 417-865-6100.
