Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Controller to join our team. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance or accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Planning and Analysis: Monitor, maintain, and report financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making. Analyze financial performance and trends.  Provide recommendations for improvement in these areas.

  2. Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with Shareholders. Monitor budget-to-actual performance and provide regular updates to the Board of Directors.

  3. Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with GAAP and all regulatory requirements.

  4. Cash Management: Manage cash flow and liquidity, including monitoring bank balances, preparing cash forecasts, and optimizing cash positions.

  5. Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable: Oversee the billing process, collections, and accounts receivable aging. Manage vendor relationships and payments, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

  6. Internal Controls: Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Conduct periodic reviews and audits to identify areas for improvement.

  7. Tax Compliance: Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns. Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations that may affect the company.

  8. Financial Systems Management: Evaluate and improve financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Implement new software or tools as needed to support business objectives.

  9. Professional License Management: Ensure that the firm is compliant with all state regulations regarding professional licensing and certificates of authority to practice architecture for both the firm and the licensed professionals in the office including renewals, transfers, updates, and maintaining records.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.

  • Ideally, a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP and financial reporting standards.

  • Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make strategic recommendations.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.  Experience with Deltek Account Software is a plus.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization.

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in the architecture or design industry is a plus.

Salary Range:
