What a difference a year makes! The hotel design and construction industry has rebounded and, according to the AIA’s Consensus Construction Forecast, is expected to have a 13.1% spending increase in 2014 and a 9.2% increase in 2015.

The Lodging Econometrics Pipeline projects a 40% increase in the number of projects under construction in the first quarter of 2014 versus the same time in 2013, with the New York market having the most projects under construction. With our first two projects in New York under construction, BR&P is right in line with this outlook.

Despite the recession, guest demand remained relatively unaffected. However, as Best Western CEO David Kong shared with CNBC, “The big change post recession is that people are much more price conscious.
